Oakland Hall Day Nursery Summer Newsletter
Our first Newsletter since Oakland Hall have had a new owner! The past few months have been filled with excitement as we start our new journey with Sangeeta.
There have been some super exciting and positive changes happening within the nursery. Super Saplings and Mighty Oaks have recently started taking part in ballet classes which take place on Tuesday mornings. All the children have really enjoyed being able to take part in ballet. This term the children’s theme has been ‘teddy bears picnic’ where all children have been able to dance with their favourite teddies. Next term the theme is going to be ‘under the sea.’
Sangeeta has recently introduced her knowledge of Spanish to the Mighty Oaks which has been exciting for both Sangeeta and the children. It is great to hear them speak a few words of spanish and hopefully some of this has reached home too.
Upstairs in our baby room there has been some changes. We would like to introduce our new room ‘ Little explorers’ Little Explorers is now our second baby room which will hold the younger ages of babies. (3 months to 14 months). Little Acorns is still here but it now holds the older ages of babies (14 months to 2 years). Each room has had some lovely new resources which we know the children will love to explore. We believe that this positive change allows us to tailor both time and resources to these two age groups in a more focused way.
We are currently in the process of setting up a Facebook page for Oakland Hall, once this is up and running, we would love for you all to give this a follow. We hope that you will enjoy being able to see what each room gets up to each week.
Mighty Oaks

This Term in the Mighty Oaks we have been exploring all about space. This exploration was initiated through the children’s keen interest in planets, rockets and aliens. The subject space has provided fun activity opportunities such as science experiments, arts and craft, imaginative role play, baking and even yoga!
Many children preparing for school have enjoyed developing skills such as name writing (in ‘moon dust’!) and counting (with ‘shooting stars’!). The children also continue to build on their self independence by cutting their own snack, pouring their own drinks and serving their own food.
We look forward to many more fun activities and learning experiences with the Mighty Oaks in the coming weeks!
Super Saplings

This Term in Super Saplings we are focusing on – the natural world, letters and summer. During this topic we will be exploring the Big ‘O’, planting seeds and discovering how things grow.
We are excited to announce that the saplings room is opening a new technology area with a computer, so the children will be able to further develop their ICT skills and have access to a ride range of CD stories.
We are also encouraging the children to be independent in their health & Self care, we are doing this by learning how to put our coats and shoes on alongside washing our hands.
Little Acorns and Little Explorers

Little Acorns:
Over the past few weeks we have been making changes to the little acorns room, including the layout of the room and a range of new resources. The children have taken a keen interest within the role play area and have enjoyed playing with our new kitchen role play. Its great to see the children engage and imitate play that they have seen first hand.
Little Explorers:
Our Joyful little explorers room provides a calming environment for babies to grow and develop in the early years foundation stages. Our babies are able to explore all of the areas independently and we plan activities linked to our babies interests. We particular enjoy messy sensory activities in the little explorers room, however we also provide allocated cosy corner, role play section and an outside area that are all frequently explored. Also our designated sleep room enables us to incorporate our babies routines at nursery.
